From Rizzoli in Bologna to Chief of Paediatric Orthopaedics at Meyer Children Hospital in Florence to a new project: “OrtoPediatria”

Dr Manuele Lampasi is an orthopaediatrics surgeon, born in Latina on March 10, 1976. Graduated with honours in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. Then, he specialized in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Bologna. He is passionate about orthopaedics and has carried out for over 10 years clinical and research activities in paediatric orthopaedics and traumatology at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute of Bologna. In 2009, he introduced the Ponseti method for the treatment of congenital club-foot. He has also had several experiences abroad in prestigious centres of pediatric orthopedics and neuro-orthopaedics (Lyon, Barcelona, Marseille, London, Basel)

At the age of 40, he was appointed by the Anna Meyer Children Hospital in Florence to organize the Unit of Paediatric Orthopaedics and Traumatology. He was nominated as Chief of the Specialistic Center of Neuro-Orthopaedics, and subsequently Chief of the Unit of Paediatric Orthopaedics.

Research and study activities in orthopaediatrics

Author of numerous articles in international journals on different topics of orthopaediatrics, including club-foot, arthrogryposis, knee deformity, hip dislocation, fractures, limb lengthening, and orthopaedic problems. He is the only Italian member recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute and one of the few certified by the International Association for the Treatment of Congenital Club-foot with the Ponseti method. He is also a member of the Italian Society (SITOP) and the European Society of Paediatric Orthopaedics (EPOS). 

Treated diseases, areas of specialization in OrtoPediatria

Specialised in the treatment of orthopaedic problems related to neurological pathologies (cerebral palsy, peripheral neuropathies, spina bifida, arthrogryposis, etc.) and complex deformities (limb lengthening, correction of deformities of limbs and feet, etc.). He has experience in all orthopaediatrics conditions (flat foot, valgus knees, scoliosis, limb length discrepancy, Perthes disease, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, hypoplasia, toe walking, skeletal dysplasia, traumatology of the upper and lower limbs, etc.).

Since 2020, he is one of the founders of a new project: OrtoPediatria.
