Dr. Manuele Lampasi


From Rizzoli in Bologna to Chief of Paediatric Orthopaedics at Meyer Children Hospital in Florence to a new project: “OrtoPediatria”

Dr Manuele Lampasi is a orthopediatrics surgeon, born in Latina on March 10, 1976. Graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, he specialized in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Bologna. Always passionate about orthopaedics, he has carried out for over 10 years clinical and research activities in Paediatric Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute of Bologna, where he introduced the Ponseti method for the treatment of congenital clubfoot. He also carried out several experiences abroad in prestigious centres of Paediatric Orthopaedics and Neuro-Orthopaedics (Lyon, Barcelona, Marseille, London, Basel).

In 2016, at the age of 40, he was appointed by the Anna Meyer Children Hospital in Florence to organize the emerging Unit of Paediatric Orthopaedics and Traumatology and nominated Chief of the Specialistic Center of Neuro-Orthopaedics, and subsequently Chief of the Unit of Paediatric Orthopaedics.

Research and study activities in orthopediatrics

Author of numerous articles in international journals on different topics of orthopediatrics (club foot, arthrogryposis, knee deformity, hip dislocation, fractures, limb lengthening, orthopaedic problems in Down syndrome and neurofibromatosis, benign bone tumours, congenital pseudoarthrosis of the lef, etc.) is the only Italian member recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute and among the few certified by the International Association for the Treatment of Congenital Clubfoot with the Ponseti method. He is also a member of the Italian Society (SITOP) and the European Society (EPOS) of Pediatric Orthopaedics. 

Treated diseases, areas of specialization in OrtoPediatria

Specialized in the treatment of orthopaedic problems related to neurological pathologies (cerebral palsy, peripheral neuropathies, spina bifida, arthrogryposis, etc.) and complex deformities (limb lengthening, correction of deformities of limbs and feet, etc.), he has experience in all orthopediatrics conditions (flat foot, valgus knees, scoliosis, limb length discrepancy, Perthes disease, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, hypoplasia, toe walking, skeletal dysplasia, traumatology of the upper and lower limbs, etc.).

In 2020, convinced of the need for new ways of developing paediatric orthopaedics in Italy, he is among the founders of a new project, OrtoPediatria.
